TECNO CAMON 16 S is the least among the latest series in the TECNO's CAMON lineup, launched in 2020. Other models in the series include the CAMON 16 Premier, CAMON 16 Pro, and CAMON 16. CAMON 16 S, being the smallest and cheapest phone in the series, was stripped down in some areas to make it a more affordable choice for many people who want a device with a 48MP camera.
With that being said, it still features the same 128GB of storage found on all the three other variants. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 48MP Ultra Quad Camera, same as the regular CAMON 16. And last, it's packed with a large 5,000mAh battery. Here is our review on the TECNO CAMON 16 S
Design and Display
One noticeable change that differentiates the TECNO CAMON 16 S from other variants in the series is its rear cover design. Rather than following the centralized square-shaped camera bump on the other variants, CAMON 16 S stick with the rectangular-shaped camera module placed at the top-left corner of the rear cover. TECNO CAMON 16 S looks beautiful and well-designed. With its two-color gradient design, CAMON 16 S possesses some textural lines that portray different texture changing effects in various lighting conditions. It also has a fingerprint sensor and some branding at the rear.
The front shows the large 6.6" display with a punch-hole cutout housing the 8MP selfie camera. Its screen is an HD+ IPS display capped at 720*1600 pixels. It's quite bright on regular days and produces well-saturated and punchy colours. The CAMON 16 S display is nothing but good at its price range. Whether you're binging Netflix, watching YouTube videos, reading, or just scrolling through social media, you'd enjoy an immersive viewing experience with the CAMON 16S' display.
Software and Performance
On the software side, TECNO CAMON 16 S runs HiOS 6.0 based on Android 10. HiOS is a user-friendly software experience with many features. It comes with Android 10 features like Dark Mode, Navigation Gestures, Wi-Fi Share, new media controls, improved privacy features, and more. Talking of HiOS 6.0, it comes with user-centered features like Social Turbo for WhatsApp, Smart Panel to launch some apps and shortcuts quickly, Game Mode, Magic Button, and many more.
We won't but talk about the 3D wallpapers on the CAMON 16 S. The default wallpapers here is just beautiful. It combines natural elements with local textures, 3D bionic design, and trendy colours to make new creative and beautiful wallpapers.
The TECNO CAMON 16 S performance is quite good as well. Although it's not powered with a gaming processor like the other variants in the CAMON 16 lineup, the Helio P22 processor is a good option as well. Thanks to the 4GB of RAM on this device, it creates more room to open apps faster, keep them in the background, and run smoothly. For your storage needs, CAMON 16 S comes with a huge 128GB storage, and that's the same storage option across the CAMON 16 series.
