WHY DOES MY PHONE KEEPS RESTARTING

Any software-related glitch or third-party App: When you’ve downloaded any unauthorized app which your device is incompatible with, or some software has corrupted.

Hardware Damage: Any damage/fault in an electronic circuit or component in your device like screen, mainboard, etc could result in continuous rebooting of your phone. The most common reason for this is, your phone was dropped down recently!

Overheating. Most of the modern devices are designed to shut off automatically if they fail to dissipate the heat generated inside. Overheating is what you can call it. Using Wi-Fi and GPS, or watching movies for hours during the hot summer days generally leads to this issue.

Liquid Insertion:  Another reason for your phone to develop an auto-restarting issue is when some liquid gets into the sensitive parts of your phone.

Loose Battery: This happens in the phones with a removable battery. Over the usage, the battery may get a tad too loose, either because the rear cover is slightly bent or the battery connectors have worn down and are not in perfect shape anymore. Whatever the reason is, even the slightest gap between battery and pins may cause the phone restarting issue.

HOW TO FIX PHONE KEEPS RESTARTING OVER AND OVER

Perform App & System Update

Some apps and Android systems, when not updated regularly, can explain why your android phone keeps restarting. So make sure they are up to date. When random-rebooting arises, this should be the foremost action to take.

  • How to update apps-

- Open Play Store, and tap the Menu icon (upper-left)

- Click on My Apps & Games.

- Here, you can select to update the apps individually or tap Update All to download all available updates.

- Whenever needed, allow App Permissions, and select “Accept” to allow the process to finish.

Now, to check if you require System Update, navigate to Settings>> System Updates... If any update is available, you can download it here. Tap “Download and Update” to initiate the process.

Clear The Phone Storage

Once your Android is updated, the next thing to do is clearing some space in your device. Ideally, a smartphone should have at least 300-400MB Free Space in RAM. Free up the space by uninstalling the apps which you currently don’t require.

- Also, delete the unnecessary files (videos, pictures, PDFs mainly) as they turn into junk files and start hampering your phone performance.

- Clear the ‘cache data’ regularly.

In your TECNO, Itel, or Infinix smartphones, you can perform App Update and space clean-up using the inbuilt Phone Master App

Close the background Apps:Sometimes, the apps sucking your resources in the background are the culprit. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Running. Trace the background apps that are running, and choose to "Force Stop" In case you notice any third-party app, uninstall it straight away.

See if the system apps are not disabled

Knowingly or unknowingly, you may have disabled some system apps. This may not just hamper the functioning of your OS but can also cause your phone to restart or freeze No worries, as you can find them and enable them again. Open Settings>> Applications. Scroll down to see which apps have a “Disabled” sign. Enabling them may help your system returning to a smooth operation.

Check for the Corrupted Apps

The best way to confirm that the issue is caused by some corrupted apps is using your device in “Safe Mode”. If your phone functions perfectly fine in Safe Mode, then the issue is related to apps or software. In that case, uninstall the suspected, recently-downloaded apps one by one. Delete 2-3 apps in one go, then restart your phone, and check if the problem is gone.

If the issue persists even after deleting the suspected apps, try “Factory Reset”.

Factory Reset is the ultimate solution if the “Phone Keeps Restarting” issue is caused by any bad app or software. It will bring the phone back to its original system state where most issues are sorted.

Note: But remember, this step will delete all the files and apps you have saved on your phone. So don’t forget to take data backup beforehand. Also, make sure the phone has ample battery to go through the reset process.

How to Factory Reset your Android Phone

- Open Settings

- Scroll down to the bottom to find “System”

- Click on Reset options. Tap on “Erase All Data” or Factory Reset

- Enter your Pin when required

- Tab Delete All and let the process run

You can also perform ‘Factory Reset’ via recovery mode. This option comes in handy when you’re unable to boot up your device. In that case, you can enter Recovery Mode by pressing ‘Power’ and ‘Volume up’ buttons simultaneously.

Most likely, the auto-restarting issue will be rectified as soon as the Factory Reset is complete. If you’re not sure to do it perfectly, you can take your phone to your nearest Carlcare center, where our experts will assist you.
