Today we’re talking about one of the most delicate and used features on your TECNO mobile device. It’s the Home Button, located on the lower part of your device’s touchpad alongside the Recent button and Back button icons. No matter where you go on your TECNO smartphone, a simple touch of the Home Button icon will lead you Home. When you need to quickly switch to another previously unopened phone application – instead of tapping the Back icon repeatedly, the Home Button icon grants you easy access to your mobile phone’s list of Apps or the Home screen itself.
So, what happens when your TECNO home button is not working? The problem which is most likely Software related, could also be due to a Change in your phone’s Setting or a much-dreaded Hardware issue. We see some noteworthy solutions to fix this issue!
THE SOLUTIONS TO FIX TECNO HOME BUTTON NOT WORKING
- Check System Navigation Feature.
Is the Home Button not showing at all? TECNO smartphones now have an option by which navigation setting can be changed; it is called “System Navigation”. You may choose to either make use of your own device with the Home Keys – comprising of the Recent, Home and Back buttons – Or, without the keys visible (Gesture Navigation) but still access it by sliding up.
To check and change, go to SETTINGS >> SYSTEM NAVIGATION >> select, KEY NAVIGATION.
- Switch Off Your Device and Switch It on Again.
Our devices need a minute to Breathe to function perfectly. A system bug can also cause the Home Button to stop working. Moreso, if you have not restarted your phone in while, this issue may surface.
To fix, hold down the Power button (usually at the right-hand side of your TECNO phone) and tap “Shutdown”. Wait for five to ten minutes and then, turn it on again. You Home button should be working now, if not, see the next fix.
- Remove Latest Downloaded Apps.
This may seem rash, but it’s possible that an app you downloaded recently may be the culprit in this Home button case. To be double sure, you may want to Boot your phone into Safe mode (here, only system apps are visible on your TECNO phone) firstly. Follow these steps to get into Safe mode –
- Hold down the Volume up button and Power button simultaneously until your phone goes off;
- Once it turns on again and your see the TECNO logo, hold down the Volume down button, until you can see “Safe Mode”just above the recent Home keys on your phone screen;
- Unlock the device and try using the Home Button now.
If your TECNO device’s Home Button works in this mode, please Restart the phone and go ahead with uninstalling the last two or three apps you downloaded to fix this issue. They may not be compatible with your phone.
- Reset Device from Settings.
At this point, we request that you please save all data on your device (including documents, contacts, video and audio files). The Reset will clean out your TECNO device and remove any software bugs that may have caused the Home button to malfunction. It’s one sure way to fix any nagging problem with your smartphone.
Go to SETTINGS >> SYSTEM >> RESET OPTIONS >> FACTORY DATA RESET >> tap RESET.
- Update Your Device.
Updates are critical to the performance of your device. If you’ve not gotten a latest version, please check now, as it can be the key to resolve the Home button problem.
Go to SETTINGS > SYSTEM > SYSTEM UPDATE >> ONLINE UPDATE – tap ‘Check for update’ and if one comes up, please Run it.
Check your device once in a while for update. They are sent in as the phone manufacturer receives feedback from users and make adjustments to improve usability.
- Visit Service Center.
If none of the previously mentioned solutions have fixed your TECNO smartphone’s Home button, the problem is perhaps Hardware related.
