What to do if TECNO bluetooth is not working

From connecting to your smart watches to listening to music on your ear buds and other Bluetooth devices, Bluetooth has played a significant role in the tech space. The good days are when these Bluetooth devices work as expected. It becomes frustrating and unusable when The phone Bluetooth is not working. Restart the device

Let's start simple. Your TECNO phone Bluetooth not working might be a software glitch you can fix by restarting your phone. So, before you try any other solutions below, reboot your phone and the Bluetooth device as well.

Restarting your phone is quite simple. Just hold down the power button and tap Restart, or hold the power button for about 10 seconds. While your phone is rebooting, kindly reboot the Bluetooth device too and start the connection when both devices are on.

Turn off and turn on Bluetooth connection again.

If restarting your phone doesn't do the trick, try restarting the Bluetooth connection. All you need is to turn off Bluetooth on your phone and turn it on after a few seconds. This could help regain connection if your phone's Bluetooth has been idle for a while.

To restart the Bluetooth connection, pull down the quick settings panel and turn off Bluetooth. Now turn it on after a few seconds. You can toggle Airplane mode as well.

Remove and pair your Bluetooth device

To further troubleshoot the problem, you need to remove and re-pair the affected Bluetooth device again. Here's how to do that:

  1. Open your quick settings panel. (Swipe down from the top of the screen twice)
  2. Find the Bluetooth tile and long-press it. It'll take you straight to device connections.
  3. From there, click Bluetooth and tap previously connected devices.
  4. Find your Bluetooth device on the list and tap the settings icon next to it. Now click Forget and confirm it to remove the device.
  5. To pair the device again, go back to the Bluetooth settings menu and tap Pair new device.
  6. Ensure you turn on the Bluetooth device you want to pair and let your phone search for it. When the device is discovered on your phone, tap on it to pair it.

If it pairs successfully, your Bluetooth device should work steadily now.

Clear the Bluetooth cache and data

Every app on your Android phone uses the cache to store some information for later use and to make the app run efficiently. Every app also has data storage where it stores the changes you make on the app. However, the cache may get corrupted or unneeded over time and make the app to malfunction. Clearing the cache and data for the Bluetooth app on your phone could fix the connection problem sometimes. Here's how to do that.

  1. Launch your device's Settings app, then click on Apps & notifications.
  2. Click the option to view all apps (App info, or Manage apps)

Note: if you have HiOS 6.2 and above, go to Settings > App management > App settings.

  1. Tap the 3-dot icon in the top-right corner and click Show system. Find and select Bluetooth in the app list.
  2. Tap Storage & Cache, then clear both of them.

Now try reconnecting your Bluetooth device again.

Enter Safe mode to connect the Bluetooth

If clearing the Bluetooth app cache and data doesn't fix , you may try rebooting into Safe Mode. On Android, Safe Mode lets you boot the system with only the core apps needed by the system: it'll pause/disable all third-party apps till you reboot your phone. Hence, it helps diagnose if an app you installed earlier is conflicting with your Bluetooth feature. Here's how to go about it.

  1. Long-press your Power button to open the power menu.
  2. On the power menu, long-press the HiOS logo for about 10 seconds or till you see the Reboot to Safe mode pop-up, then tap
  3. Your phone will restart and you'll see the "Safe mode" indicator below the screen. Try reconnecting to your Bluetooth device. If it works, you should check your phone and uninstall the problematic app.
  4. Restart your phone normally to exit Safe mode.

Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile Network & Bluetooth settings

If you still can't make use of Bluetooth on your TECNO phone after trying all the fixes above, then you still have more to do. This time, you need to reset the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & Mobile Network settings on your phone. There's an Android setting that lets you reset some features, rather than resetting the whole device.   1. Open your device's Settings Scroll to the bottom and tap System.

  3. Finally, tap Reset Settings and confirm your device security. You can now turn on and reconnect your Bluetooth device after that.

Update the device

Your Bluetooth device might fail to connect with your phone if you're running outdated software. There are some cases where your current software version has some issues affecting Bluetooth and many other features. In regards to that, kindly go to Settings > System > System Update to check and update your device.
