Free up Space

System lag on your android phone can be as a result of your phone’s internal memory being full and draining the system. Usually, a full memory can be caused by having too much stuff on your android phone, or apps like whatsapp having a lot of local databases and backups.

The antidote to this is to free up space on your phone. There are songs you haven’t listened to in months, yet remain on your phone. There are files you don’t use, that can be cleared. Decide on what is useful and what is not, and discard the unwanted files to speed up android phone

Uninstall Unused Apps

There is a tendency amongst android users to keep a lot of apps on their phones. Usually, not all these apps are useful. Also, android phones usually pack a lot of apps that just bloat your internal storage -call them bloatware- and take up valuable space.  So,in order to speed up your android phone,  decide on which apps are actually useful to you, and uninstall the rest that aren’t.

Uninstall RAM Booster Apps

RAM booster apps are common, and they are often touted as a solution to a slow android phone. But they actually make it slower for apps to restart once they kill them. Not to mention the fact that they work in the background, and actually take more battery.

Uninstalling them is a good way to start for you if you want to speed up android phone.d

Use a Memory Card

Using a memory card will help you manage storage congestion on your phone better. You would be able to move heavy files to the memory card, creating more space for your phone's internal memory to work.

Use the Data Saver Mode

When browsing, loading some pages can be slow, and this can affect your android phone. Use data saver option instead. It allows you to load pages faster with less data usage.

If Chrome is your default option, you can enable the data saver option by going to Chrome Settings and going to Advanced Options. Scroll down till you find Data Saver or Lite Mode. Put it on, and this should help make my android phone run faster

Clear Cache Data

Every app that opens on your phone leaves temporary data in your RAM that allows it to run better when you open it next time.  This data is called cache and can build up, causing your phone to hang. To clear this data, go to Settings, scroll down to Storage and click on Internal Storage. Scroll down till you see Cache Data and click on it to clear the data.

Update the System

Sometimes, the reason for your phone running slowly is because your phone's software is out of date. In this case, all you need to do is to update your software to speed up the phone. To do this, go to Settings and scroll down till you get to About Phone. Click on this and scroll to find System Updates. Click on this and you'll find Software update. Click on that and follow any resulting instructions.

Restart Your Phone

It's a fairy common practice to keep your phone on for a long time, without restarting or shutting it down. In some cases, this might be the cause of a lag/slowness in performance.

Android phones work by moving physical components when electricity fires in them. These movements are why your phone gets warm after a while of use.

Restarting your phone could help in this case, as it would give your phone much needed respite.

Switch Off Animations

Animations help to improve the aesthetics of your android phone when you use them, and they are nice for navigating your android phone. But all that smooth UI can cause delays in performance of your devices. Disabling them will help improve your device's performance.

To disable them, click on Settings, scroll down and find About Phone. Tap on Build Number 7 times and Developer Options get enabled.   Once this is done, go to Developer Options in Settings and find Window Animation Scale. Turn it off. Do the same for Transition Animation Scale and also Animator Duration Scale.  Keep Developer Options on, as turning it off will revert the changes.

Factory Reset Your Phone

Sometimes, clearing all the data on your phone is the only way to get your phone working normally. Make sure you have a backup of only absolutely essential data before doing doing the hard reset.

To do this, you can go to Settings and find Backup and Reset. Tap it and find Hard Reset. Follow the prompts to factory reset your phone.  Only do this when all other methods have proven ineffective.
