The Infinix Note 8i is one of the most sought after midrange smartphone released by Infinix in 2020. Being the lower version of the regular Note 8, and the right successor to the Note 7 launched earlier, Infinix Note 8i comes with major improvements in performance, design, battery, software, and camera as well.
At an affordable price, the Note 8i features the MediaTek Helio G80 gaming processor, 5200mAh battery optimized with Power Marathon tech, 6.78" display, 480nits of peak brightness, side-mounted fingerprint, 48MP Ultra-Night Quad Camera, and the user-centered software.
Here's our review on the Infinix Note 8i.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
- 78" Infinity-O display
- 480 nits brightness
- Side-mouth fingerprint
The Infinix Note 8i doesn't take the circular-shaped camera module of its predecessor - Note 7. The first thing you'd notice in the design of the Note 8i is its large rear camera module, making it look like you're holding a phone with six cameras at first glance. Like the Note 8 and Note 7, Infinix Note 8i places it's fingerprint sensor right on the power button, making it look more stylish and easy to unlock your phone.
Moving to the front of the device shows its large 6.78 inches Infinity-O display. One thing about "Infinity-O" display on Infinix phones is its tiny camera punch-hole cutout, making the selfie camera less obstructive for media consumption. The screen here is a 720*1640 LCD panel packed with 480 nits of peak brightness. It also sports moderate bezels around the screen.
With many color options to choose from, Note 8i has a refined diamond-shaped rear design which gives it a more beautiful look, and also makes it more comfortable to hold in your palms.
PERFORMANCE & STORAGE
- MediaTek Helio G80 processor
- 4/6GB RAM
- 64/128GB ROM; expandable up to 512GB
It's the performance for us on the Infinix Note 8i. With the powerful MediaTek Helio G80 processor, it is 14% faster in GPU image rendering and has 35% more ANTUTU benchmark score, as compared with the Helio G70 used on the Infinix Note 7 launched earlier - making it a beast of a device, especially for elite gamers. Primarily, Helio G80 is an Octa-Core gaming processor that promises all-rounder and excellent performance.
To give you more room for multitasking and provide swift performance, Infinix Note 8i is coupled with 4G/6GB RAM, which is enough to keep more apps running in the background. Just pick up your phone and start working from where you left.
The storage on the Note 8i is the same as what you would get on the regular Note 8 and Note 7. It comes with 64G/128GB of internal storage, which is more than enough for most people to store their media files and apps. If you ever wish to expand the storage, it has a dedicated SD-card slot that supports up to 512GB.

- Power Marathon Technology
- 18W Super Charge
- USB Type-C
The battery on this device is one of its major improvements. It comes with a gigantic 5200mAh battery with the new 'Power Marathon Technology' designed to improve battery life. You would find various ways to save more juice with Power Marathon, which includes Battery Saver, Low Power Mode, Scheduled Airplane mode, and others. Also, you're not going to wait all-day to charge up Note 8i as it supplies 18W Super Charge over USB type-C.
CAMERA.
- 48MP Ultra-Night Quad-Rear Camera
- Quad-LED flash
- 8MP Front Camera
- Dual-LED flash.
Infinix Note 8i comes with a total of five cameras - one front camera and four rear cameras. Helping you create more stunning photos and videos, Infinix Note 8i is equipped with a 48MP primary camera, 2MP macro camera, 2MP depth camera, and one other AI lens. The selfie shooter is an 8MP camera embedded into the tiny punch hole cutout.
As expected, the Infinix Note 8i camera performs excellently in its price range. One of the improved camera features here is the Ultra Night Mode 2.0, which now captures brighter pictures in low-light.
There's now an Eye-tracking Autofocus feature in the Note 8i, backed up by Infinix's AI algorithm to help produce more natural-looking pictures.
One more upgrade in the Note 8i is its redesigned camera interface. Following the redesigned XOS UI, the camera interface is now comfortable to use in one-handed mode.
