Design

First, the Infinix S5 Pro and TECNO CAMON 15 Pro represent the only smartphone from the brands to feature an uninterrupted display - no notches or punch-hole cutout whatsoever. And secondly, they both feature a camera bump that looks like the tip of a bet, or maybe a pen. If not for the height of the camera bumps, you hardly would differentiate them from afar; courtesy of the quad rear camera setup on the CAMON 15 Pro; you get a triple rear camera setup on the S5 Pro.

Both phones come in a durable polycarbonate build. Coming in beautiful colors, you get a textured design on the CAMON 15 Pro, while the S5 Pro embraces a glossy design with nice gradients.

Both phones share similar dimensions as well, especially the thickness. You get 9mm+ thickness on both devices, probably because of the pop-up camera mechanism placed inside the body. They'll feel comfortable in your palms, however, thanks to their curved body.

Off to the display, They share similar FHD+ screen resolution and size, with the S5 Pro coming at 6.53", and the CAMON 15 Pro coming slightly larger at 6.6". It's just a tiny difference though. While both devices don't feature any selfie camera cutout on the screen, you'd get a pop-up camera mechanism protruding from the same location as the rear camera module anytime you activate selfie mode.

Features

Let's start with the performance, a MediaTek Helio P35 processor powers both the S5 Pro and CAMON 15 Pro, with a Quad-Core CPU maxed at 2.3GHz frequency. On top of that, you get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on the two devices. Expandable storage serves as a bonus for the two; if you ever need more storage, just fix in a micro SD card in the dedicated slot.

We move to the software. Both phones are the first phones from the brands to run Android 10 based on the 6th version of the custom skin from both brands: XOS for the Infinix and HiOS for TECNO. HiOS 6 doesn't look far away from XOS 6: you get similar features and interface with little tweaks.

Fueling the phone and keeping the screen active on both phones is a 4,000mAh battery. On paper, that's more than what'd get on many devices launched in 2020. That's aside, a 4,000mAh is enough to keep you active from morning till bedtime on normal configuration and usage. Meanwhile, unlike the CAMON 16 Premier or Infinix Zero 8 of today, you get the regular 10W charger inside the boxes of both devices. That doesn't matter for some people in most cases, since you get a gigantic battery on both devices; it's still what to note, however.

Off to the cameras, it seems both the S5 Pro and CAMON 15 Pro have the most interest in the selfie camera: first is that we now have it in a hidden pop-up mechanism, the second is that you get large megapixels on both devices. The CAMON 15 Pro uses a 32MP pop-up selfie camera, while Infinix S5 takes it up a bit with its 40MP pop-up selfie camera.

Flipping to the back camera, it seems like Infinix substituted the 40MP selfie camera for a wide-angle camera. You get a 48MP AI quad-rear camera, encompassing a 48MP main camera, 5MP wide-angle/macro camera, 2MP depth sensor, and AI lens with the endorsement of TAIVOS™ on the CAMON 15 Pro. On the other hand, it's a triple camera setup on the S5 Pro: 48MP main camera, 2MP depth sensor, and QVGA. From my perspective, the missing 5MP wide-angle/macro camera on the S5 Pro doesn't literally make the CAMON 15 Pro a winner here, especially when you consider its megapixels. Nonetheless, you get astounding and detailed shots on the main 48MP lens on both devices. Both devices can capture videos up to 1080p@30fps on both front and rear main cameras.

Which of the phones should you buy?

From the design to the display, processor, memory, battery, software, and others, the TECNO CAMON 15 Pro and the Infinix S5 Pro share a sheer number of basic and core features. Where the little difference comes up is in the cameras, all of which really doesn't matter. A 40MP selfie camera pops up from the S5 Pro, while it's reduced to 32MP on the CAMON 15 Pro. Conversely, CAMON 15 Pro opts for an additional 5MP wide-angle/macro camera, which offers more shooting modes than the S5 Pro.

In confusion, you can go for any of these devices without feeling like something is missing from the other.
