REASONS WHY YOUR TECNO PHONE WON'T BOOT UP PROPERLY

Below are some reasons why your TECNO phone won't power on completely or stuck on the startup screen.

Virus or Software bugs

One of the traditional problems you may have with Android is the virus that comes from anywhere, without giving you any sort of notice. When a phone is infected with a virus, it tries to overpower the OS and force it to shut down for no reason and may be unable to power on again.

Another thing that may cause your TECNO phone not to boot up is software bugs and it can be fixed by installing a pending system update. To do that, open the Settings app and scroll down to the bottom to select 'System', tap on 'System Update' and follow the instructions to update your device.

Unfinished Software update

A software update is crucial to keep your Android up and runnin as it brings an update to security level and also enables a way for new features. However, one problem most users faced on Android that causes the system not to boot up is unfinished system update, which may be as a result of insufficient power to complete the update, the device turned off while being updated, corrupted software package, software from an unofficial source, interrupted by the user, etc.

That is why you are always instructed that the update might take a while before it will fully be installed, and you do not nterrupt the device during the process. To avoid this in the future, ensure to always have more than 50% battery and do not interrupt it while the device is installing an update.

If in any case, you experience boot loop after an unfinished system update, your OS may have been corrupted.

Bad applications

If your TECNO phone wouldn't boot up after installing an application. It might be as a result that the app isn't optimized for your device. It's clashing with some other apps on the device, or it has some malicious codes that have tampered with the system. Apps like that are not commonly found on the Play Store. It might be that you got it outside of the Play Store and it carries infection that is conflicting with the system.

The best way to avoid this is by looking away from apps that are not downloaded from a reliable source.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR TECNO PHONE IS NOT BOOTING

After knowing some of the reasons why your phone won't start up properly, the tips below will guide you on how to get rid of the messy predicament.

Low Battery - Check by charging the phone

The system relies on the battery to perform any task or even boot up. The Android system will notify you to plug in your phone to a power source when your battery is low. But if you've swiped away the notification and forget to charge, the phone will shut down when the battery gets to zero percentage and may not start if you try to power it on.

The only way to fix that is to plug in the device to a power source and leave it to charge up. Power on the phone to check if the problem is fixed.

Check by switching off the phone

The first thing to try if your phone wouldn't boot up is performing a soft boot, namely, power off the device and on it again. This could fix a variety of software problems such as the boot loop you are experiencing.

If your phone has a removable battery, try to remove the battery for about 5-10 seconds, reinsert, and then power on the device to check if your phone can now boot properly. On the other hand, if you own a device with an inbuilt battery, try holding the power button for about 10 seconds to perform a soft reboot when the phone is on.

You should also eject your memory card and SIM cards in the process to check if the phone will boot up properly and reinsert them after.  If the problem persists, proceed to another solution below.

Factory reset using hardware keys

This is usually the last thing to try to fix this issue on your own.

Note: The hard reset will remove every data on the phone, including all apps & games, music, videos, pictures, etc.  You should backup data before performing hard reset

A hard reset can help solve most software glitches on your phone and can help if the system is infected by a virus etc.

To perform a hard reset on your TECNO phone, follow the guides below.

  • Power off the phone completely
  • Press and hold the power + volume up button at once to start the device (it won't vibrate if you  got it right)
  • Wait for the Android robot to show up, press the power + volume up buttons again to show the recovery menu.
  • Navigate up/down with the volume buttons and select "wipe data/factory reset" with the power button.
  • Wait for the process to complete and restart your device.

If the problem is still not solved by now, that implies that you can't fix it by yourself.  Proceed to the last solution.
