Our phones can often be laggy and frustrating, and we consider a hard reset. It could result from too many apps in the background or a lack of memory space; either way, the lag, freeze or unresponsive screen in our phones can become unbearable, and we may simply need to Hard reset our Android phones. A Hard reset is also called a force restart or an alternate restart, and it can fix this problem pretty quickly and easily.

A hard reset, however, is not sure to completely fix all the issues associated with lagging or slow phones, freezing interfaces or unresponsive screens. These issues can be because of several other reasons like storage space issues, outdated system software or even damaged or malfunctioning hardware. You may need to check all these as possible reasons for your phone’s general malfunction if a hard reset seems to do nothing for your mobile device. In this article, you will be shown how you can hard reset your Android phone.

How To Hard Reset Android Phone

1. By updating the Android Operating System

Every smartphone uses an operating system, and for Android phones, just as the name implies, the operating system is Android. When an Android phone begins to lag or become unresponsive, one of the reasons could be an outdated Android OS. Updating the operating system will automatically cause your Android phone to hard reset and fix any other issue that may have caused your phone to slow down or become unresponsive.

Updating your Android operating system will not clear your storage or delete any files and can be done using a computer using a PC software called DroidKit which utilises the process of auto-matching firmware and downloading the firmware package. You can install a fresh Android OS on your mobile device.

DroidKit will also fix many other system issues after reinstalling the Android OS, such as unresponsive screens, virus problems or slow or lagging systems. DroidKit also has a feature called the Clean System Junk tool which can help you find and delete any unwanted APK files, caches, and background apps.

You can do a complete operating system update using DroidKit through these simple steps:

  • Open DroidKit on your PC and tap on the “Start” button.
  • Connect your device, and wait for DroidKit to match the correct system version automatically. Then you can choose a version to download
  • Select and Download the latest firmware version, then click “Start to Reinstall.”
  • There will be on-screen prompts for you to follow to put your phone in Download mode. DroidKit will begin the reinstall process immediately. Wait till the “System Updated Successfully” page comes up.

This method works perfectly for phones that have unresponsive touchscreens. An alternative could be downloading an updated operating system through your phone’s settings. You should be connected to a WiFi network because your phone will attempt to download an updated OS version and install it completely.

2. Phone Reboot

You can perform a hard reset by simply performing a simple reboot. A typical phone reboot can be done by locating the power button on your phone and holding it for up to 5 seconds. A menu will pop up with options to restart or power off your phone. Tap on “Restart” and wait for your phone to reboot.

This method is straightforward and provides a quick solution, but it does not fix many problems that can cause your phone to glitch. When rebooted, your phone does not delete useless cache files or clear viruses. However, it closes all background apps and shuts down every previous activity while nothing is lost. Your phone will return the same as before, only working perfectly in the first few minutes.

If the issue is an outdated operating system or a storage space system, you would not have solved anything. This method is perfect for slight phone glitches and for some touchscreen-related problems.

3. Factory Reset Mode

When all you tried has not worked, the last option for you is a complete factory resetting. There is a way to force your phone to restart without touching the screen. It works perfectly for phones that have an unresponsive touchscreen. This factory hard reset can be done using the power and volume keys usually found on the sides of your Android phones. These simple steps can perform a quick and easy hard reset on your Android phone.

  • First, turn off your device. Press and hold the power button and then tap “Power off.”
  • Now, press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button at the same time.
  • Keep holding the buttons until you see the Android logo. The Recovery Mode will open.
  • Now, use your device's volume buttons to navigate the options and select the Wipe data/Factory Reset/Erase data option. These options depend on the kind of phone.
  • Now, follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your action, and the factory reset process will begin.

It is important to note that this method to enter the Recovery Mode may differ depending on the Android device brand and the phone’s model.

After trying all these methods and your Android device still seems unresponsive, it is time to seek professional help by booking a reservation with Carlcare. Seeking professional assistance becomes the best way to find a solution to the problem.
