FRP (Factory Reset Protection) is a security feature implemented by Google on Android devices to prevent unauthorised access to a device after a factory reset.

How to Remove Google FRP Lock on Infinix Phones

If you're locked out of your Infinix phone due to FRP, here are a few easy methods to remove the FRP lock:

Method 1: Using the Google Account Credentials

  • After performing a factory reset on your Infinix phone, you'll be prompted to enter the Google account credentials that were previously synced to the device.
  • Enter the email address and password associated with the Google account and proceed with the setup process. If the credentials are correct, the FRP lock will be removed, and you'll gain access to the device.

Method 2: Using an OTG Cable and USB Drive

  • You'll need an OTG cable (On-The-Go) and a USB drive for this method.
  • Download the FRP bypass APK file from a trusted source on your computer.
  • Copy the APK file to a USB drive.
  • Connect the OTG cable to your Infinix phone and connect the USB drive to the OTG cable.
  • A file explorer will open automatically on your phone. Locate and install the FRP bypass APK.
  • Once the installation is complete, open the app and go to the settings menu to perform a factory reset. This will remove the FRP lock.

Method 3: Using a Combination of Keys

  • Turn off your Infinix phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously until the device vibrates and the Infinix logo appears.
  • Release the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume Up button until the phone enters recovery mode.
  • Use the volume buttons to navigate and the Power button to select "Wipe data/factory reset."
  • Confirm the selection and wait for the reset process to complete.
  • Once the process is finished, reboot the device, and the FRP lock will be removed.

It's important to note that FRP lock removal methods can vary depending on the specific Infinix model and Android version. If these methods don't work for your device or if you're unsure about the process, it's recommended to seek assistance from an authorised like Carlcare service centre which is the only authorised service centre in Nigeria or book a reservation with Carlcare for further guidance.

How Google FRP Lock Work

Google's Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is a security feature designed to protect Android devices from unauthorised access and ensure that a device remains secure, even if it is lost, stolen, or reset to factory settings. The FRP lock is activated when a device is associated with a Google Account and has undergone a factory reset.

Here's how Google FRP lock works:

  1. Initial setup: During the initial setup of an Android device, users are prompted to sign in with their Google Account. This Google Account becomes the primary account associated with the device.
  2. FRP activation: After setting up the device and associating it with a Google Account, the FRP lock is automatically enabled. This means that if the device is subsequently factory reset, it will require the original Google Account credentials to be entered before it can be used again.
  3. Factory reset: When a user performs a factory reset on the device, either through the settings or by external means (e.g., recovery mode), the device is restored to its original factory settings, erasing all user data, apps, and settings.
  4. FRP protection: After the factory reset, when the device is turned on again, it will prompt the user to enter the Google Account and password that was associated with the device before the reset. This is to ensure that only the original owner can access the device.
  5. Bypass protection: If the device is factory reset and the original Google Account credentials are not provided, the FRP lock will prevent the device from being used. In this case, the user needs to enter the last Google Account used on the device or perform additional verification steps to prove ownership and unlock the device.
  6. Account verification methods: Google offers several methods for account verification to bypass the FRP lock. These methods may include entering the previous Google Account credentials, using backup codes, verifying through a secondary email address or phone number, or using the Google Account Recovery process.

By implementing the FRP lock, Google aims to discourage device theft and unauthorised access by making it difficult for someone without the original Google Account credentials to use a factory-reset device. It adds an extra layer of security to protect user data and privacy.
