It can be very frustrating to see the proximity sensor is not working- you won't be able to hang up your calls and you may even be stuck on the lock screen if you don't know how to go about it. This article will guide you on possible causes of the TECNO proximity sensor not working and two major ways to get it fixed.
Ways to Fix TECNO Proximity Sensor Not Working
1. Find the official service center to fix it
Right off the bat, a malfunctioning proximity sensor on a TECNO phone can result from hardware defects - especially if the phone was heavily dropped. So, before trying to do more technical stuff to get it fixed, visiting a service center would initially help fix the problem. While making your way out to find a repairer, we do strongly recommend visiting a reliable and well-experienced repairer, such as the official service center for your brand.
Carlcare, a phone repair service center, provides a reliable, professional, quality, and fast mobile repair service to users in over 50 countries around the world. We are the only authorized after-sales service provider for all your TECNO, Infinix, and itel smartphones. 2. Restart your phone
Before trying any technical move, there is a possibility that there's nothing wrong with the sensor itself-it may be misbehaving because of some software glitches. A simple restart can help fix a lot of software-related issues on your smartphone, and it takes just about two minutes to get that done.
To restart your phone on many TECNO phones, kindly press and hold the power button for about 8-10 seconds or do it typically by holding the power button and swiping up on the screen.
Check if the sensor is now working properly or move to the next step.
3. Update your phone
On the other hand, a system bug lying around the system from the last system update might cause the proximity sensor not to work. Kindly check for the latest update on your phone by:
- Going to Settings >> System >> System Update >> Online update.
Tap to download and install the update if there's any, it may help fix the problem.
4. Check dust or crack on-screen on the sensor.
How often do you clean your phone? If you do it frequently, the problem may not be coming from there. But on the other hand, a crack or dirt on the upper part of the screen can lead to a “call sensor not working” problem. Try wiping the screen thoroughly with a damp cloth wet with alcohol or little water. However, if there's a crack on the screen, visit Carlcare Service Center near you to have your cracked screen repaired.
5. Remove the screen guard and check
Is your screen guard well plastered to the screen? Can you notice some dots on the screen or probably some lines on the upper part of the screen? It can also trigger a fake image on the sensor, thereby causing it to malfunction. This is very common if you have a phone with a full screen. Try removing the screen guard gently (you may use your ATM card) and clean the screen. Try checking if the proximity sensor works properly now or move to a more drastic step below.
6. Reset your device
This is usually the last DIY trick to try to fix common smartphone issues. Resetting your device will clear all your data including your contacts, music, videos, files, etc.
Note: Ensure to always back up your phone before trying to perform a factory reset
The proximity sensor is a handy feature on your smartphone that automatically helps you turn off the screen when you place the phone on your ear while calling. It also helps you block accidental touches while the screen is off, especially when it is placed inside your pocket. That's not all, it can also help you play your WhatsApp audio through the ear speaker.
