The TECNO SPARK 8C is a solid entry-level Android smartphone made for lightweight users and people who have little to spare. Even at its affordable price point, it rocks a 90Hz display and some other decent specs that make it a lot of value for money. However, there will always be something wrong, since it’s a mobile phone. If you have any problem with your SPARK 8C and haven't solved it yet, here are a bunch of common TECNO SPARK 8C problems and fixes to try.

Part 1. Common TECNO SPARK 8C Problems and Fixes

We can't mention every problem you'd face on your SPARK 8C variant. Nevertheless, this guide covers a wide range of solutions for several Android issues. Below, you’ll find the most popular TECNO SPARK 8C problems and fixes to try when they occur.

1. Performance issues

  • Free up your storage
  • Clear background apps
  • Check for malware
  • Update your device

From laggy/sluggish UI to skippy animations and apps not responding, chances are you’ll meet one or more performance-related issues on your SPARK 8C. It is frustrating, especially now that the device is relatively new.

While the SPARK 8C is nowhere a performance chap because it’s an entry-level device, there are a few tips to help you get the best out of it and make using it less frustrating.

Potential fixes

  1. The TECNO SPARK 8C wasn’t made for power users or people who want to run the highest graphic games on their phone; you might have to tone things down a bit if you’re like that. Since the device runs on the Android Go edition, we recommend sticking with a lightweight version of apps for the best performance. Installing Facebook Lite, Instagram Lite, Twitter Lite, and the likes over the standard apps will make your phone run faster.
  2. Ensure there’s enough memory (RAM) to run apps on your phone. You should be able to run more apps without issues if you have the 4GB RAM variant of the SPARK 8C. Regardless, you can keep things running smoothly by limiting the apps/processes you run at a go, even if you have just 2GB of RAM. You can free up your phone memory by clearing all apps from the Recent apps panel.
  3. Similarly, free up your storage if it’s running low.
  4. Ensure your phone and apps are up-to-date. Visit the Play Store to update all your apps, then go to Settings > System > Software Update to update your phone.
  5. If your phone still feels sluggish, you might need to check for malware or culprit apps. Boot into Safe mode to find out that.

2. Low storage issues

  • Check your storage details with Files by Google
  • Uninstall rarely used apps
  • Use an external SD card

9 out of 10 times, one of the most prominent TECNO SPARK 8C problems and fixes people request is how to solve low storage problems. Since the device only comes with 64GB of storage, it’s easy to fill it up quickly and enter the danger of low storage, which can be a tremendous blow to performance in most cases.

3. Battery drains too fast

  • Reduce screen brightness
  • Turn off GPS, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth when not in use
  • Close battery-hogging apps and uninstall the unnecessary ones
  • Get a battery replacement

The TECNO SPARK 8C features a large 5000mAh battery and a power-efficient chip and software that should make it last a day or two for most people. But if your battery drains too fast, something is wrong somewhere.

Potential fixes:

  1. The screen is usually the first culprit for poor battery issues on any device. If your screen is too bright, the battery drains faster. So, ensure the intensity of your screen isn't so high unnecessarily. A quick hack is to turn on Adaptive Brightness on your phone to let the system adjust the screen to your environmental condition. You’d find the “A” button next to the brightness slider in the QuickSettings panel or by going to Settings > Display > Adaptive Brightness.
  2. Still on the Display settings page, set your “Screen timeout” to the least you can accept. Having your screen stay long when not in use drains the battery. 15-30 seconds of screen timeout should be good for most people.
  3. Turning off the 90Hz refresh rate can also help you save some battery juice on your SPARK 8C, but you should only do that if you really need to preserve the extra juice. Of course, you paid more for the higher refresh rate; you should enjoy the buttery screen.
  4. Your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile data, and GPS can be a battery hogger. So, consider turning them off when not in use to save battery.
  5. Your battery also depletes faster when background apps/processes are much. Ensure to close apps you’re not using to save more battery.
  6. The SPARK 8C is barely a year old, so we don't expect the battery to be weak so quickly. Nonetheless, you may need to visit the official center for a battery replacement if you've tried all the battery-saving tips above without positive results.

4. Phone running slow

A bunch of things we've mentioned earlier, like clearing unnecessary background apps and processes, freeing up your storage, and updating your apps should make the phone run snappy by now. But there's a hidden trick that can make switching between windows and navigating your phone feel fasting - that's reducing the animation duration.

You’d have to dig into your phone's developer options to enable that. Here's how:

  1. Enable Developer options first if you’re hearing it for the first time
    1. Go to Settings > My Phone. Find “Build number” and tap it 7 times to unlock the hidden developer options. Confirm your password if required.
  2. After that, go back to the Settings app, tap the search bar, and enter "animation scale."
  3. Wait for a few seconds and click on the first result.
  4. You’d see three animation options there: “Window animation scale,” “Transition animation scale,” and “ Animation duration scale.”
  5. Set the three parameters to ".5x"or turn them off.

Doing that will reduce your phone's animation scale but should make it feel snappier.

5. Unable to install apps from the Play Store

One of the common TECNO SPARK 8C problems and fixes people seek is the inability to install/update apps from the Play Store. If you also experience this issue with your unit, here are a few things you can try

  1. Check your internet connection. Most times, your apps/games won't download if your network is poor. So, work on fixing that first.
  2. Free up your phone storage.
  3. Clear the Play Store cache or reset the app.
    1. Long-press the Play Store app icon in your app drawer and tap "App info."
    2. Tap Storage
    3. Select Clear Storage and confirm it.
  4. If you still can’t install or update apps successfully, try restarting your phone.
  5. Also, ensure your phone software is up-to-date.

6. Slow charging

To keep the selling price at bay, most entry-level devices, like the TECNO SPARK 8C, rarely feature fast charging technologies. Most times, it takes about 3 hours to juice up the device from 0 to 100%. However, if your SPARK 8C takes longer hours than usual,

here are a few things to try to speed up the charging speed:

  1. Try another USB cable
  2. Close background apps, turn on Airplane mode or shut down your phone for a while
  3. Try another charging brick
  4. Clean your charging port
  5. Charge your phone under room temperature
  6. Update your device

7. Screen not working well

While it’s not as common as the other issues mentioned earlier, you might also face a display or touch screen problem on your SPARK 8C. The good part, however, you don’t need to replace the screen to fix these issues in most cases.

If your screen isn’t responding to touches, has bubbles under the display, plagued with ghost touches, or not just working accurately, here's a list of TECNO SPARK 8C problems and fixes you can try:

  1. A dirty display can often be troublesome to read, make the content look weird, or make the touch panel unresponsive. If your screen isn't working well, start by cleaning it with a dry, soft cloth.
  2. Screen protectors can also cause touch problems sometimes. if you recently installed a new screen guard or the one you have is getting too old, try getting another one to see if it fixes the problem. You can always use your phone without the screen protector to see if it works fine.
  3. For damages from hard drops, water, pressure, ghost touches, etc., you'll need to visit the repair center for help.
