things to do after buying a new android phone

Check the device box

Of course, the first thing you want to do after buying your new Android phone is unboxing it. Why are we saying this? Like... you know how to unbox your phone already. But some people barely pick up their phone and the charger without delving into what's packed in the box.

So, when you get your new phone, check the box to see what's inside. In a typical TECNO or Infinix phone box, you'd get a gift box containing a TPU case, a warranty card, and sometimes, a tempered glass. Looking further would reveal the phone itself, a charging brick, a USB cable, a SIM ejection tool, and a pair of wired earphones.

Setup your Google Account

After unboxing your new Android phone, it's essential to link up your Google account. It's not what we'd encourage you to skip, as you'd need it on crucial occasions like installing apps, using Google assistance, using Google services, and other core Android functions.

So, if peradventure you skipped setting-up your Google account at the initial Android setup, follow the simple steps below to do so.

  • Open theSettings app on your phone; scroll down a bit, and tap
  • Click on Add account, then select Google from the list.
  • Enter your account details to sign-in to the Google account on your new Android device

Copy data to new phone

This is also part of the initial Android setup. When you buy a new Android phone, you will need to move the files from the old phone to the new one. The data could include contacts, photos, videos, music files, documents and more. Sometimes, you may also want to transfer WhatsApp from Android to Android.

Secure your new device

We bet you store a lot of personal data and files on your phone. And if not, it's worth keeping your private chats from the prying eyes. So, it's essential to set up a robust security system on your new Android phone. To do that, Android provides you with lots of security methods - ranging from simple screen locks to biometrics.

This destination may vary on your device, but you can search for "Update" in the Settings app to get there faster.

Check warranty

You shouldn't take checking your warranty status. It ensures you don't pay for unexpected charges when your phone develops natural faults. Various manufacturers and OEMs have different ways of tracking their warranty status, but if you've got a new TECNO, Infinix, or itel smartphone, checking your warranty status is a breeze. All you need is the Carlcare app, and nothing else.

  • Launch the Carlcare on your TECNO, Infinix, or itel phone and sign-in or create a new Carlcare account.
  • Click on the Warranty button on the homepage to start the process.
  • Hit Query for this device or input your new phone's IMEI number manually.

You would get your Warranty card containing the expiration date and other information.

You can even take it up a notch by verifying the authenticity of your new TECNO, Infinix, or itel phone inside the Carlcare app. Click on the "Me" tab in the bottom bar, then tap Verify Authenticity. If your new phone is genuine, you'll receive a pop-up message confirming it. If it shows a strange message, it's better to return the phone and visit an authorized shop.

Better still, having a screen protector on your phone reduces the risk of breaking your screen.

Meantime, if you don't like screen protectors, you can take advantage of our Screen Protection Package.
